Permanent, Full-Time Position

Our client, a prominent trade association within the financial sector, is seeking a Regulatory Affairs Manager to join their team with a flexible working arrangement. This role will focus on the Legal, Conduct Risk, and Financial Crime division.

Candidates with substantial policy experience in financial services, banking, lending, mortgages, savings, governmental roles, conduct risk, FCA, vulnerability, trade associations, professional organizations, regulatory bodies, or membership organizations are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities of the Regulatory Affairs Manager

- Represent the perspectives of association members to external entities and stakeholders, fostering a supportive operational environment for members.
- Assist the Head of Legal, Conduct Risk, and Financial Crime as required.
- Address inquiries from members and proactively identify opportunities for policy advancement within the association.

- Advocate for member interests in meetings with external organizations, such as government bodies, professional associations, and other trade groups. Typically, lead or chair these meetings, potentially with support from member practitioners. Engage in speaking opportunities at seminars relevant to the role.

- Articulate member interests in written formats, including responses to consultation documents, briefings for government officials, and correspondence. Written materials are generally drafted by the postholder, with input from practitioners on proposed responses. Major responses are reviewed by the Head of Department, Chief Executive, or Association Council.

- Create guidance materials through website briefs, newsletters, and circulars.

- Organize Panel/Committee meetings, prepare agenda documents, chair discussions, take minutes, and follow up on action items.

- Stay informed about current developments in relevant areas and the broader market to anticipate future initiatives.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

- Degree-level education

- Proficient in analyzing policy matters and formulating evidence-based positions

- Strong writing skills with clarity and conciseness

- Excellent communication and presentation abilities

- Capable of taking primary responsibility for specific policy areas

- Experience in engaging with senior representatives from external organizations and members

- Strong organizational skills

- Teamwork and motivational skills

- Experience in chairing or serving as secretary in meetings

- Effective time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines

Desirable Qualifications

- Knowledge of Conduct Risk Management and FCA Handbook requirements

- Understanding of vulnerability issues

- Familiarity with financial crime matters.
