We are seeking a highly skilled Cryo-EM Facilities Manager to join our team at GSK. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining three state-of-the-art cryo-EM microscopes, ensuring their optimal performance and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
As a Cryo-EM Facilities Manager, you will work closely with our team of structural biologists to design and implement efficient workflows, ensuring that our facility remains at the forefront of cryo-EM technology. You will also be responsible for collaborating with researchers both within and outside the department, leveraging cryo-EM to directly impact the advancement of medicines.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain three state-of-the-art cryo-EM microscopes, ensuring optimal performance and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
- Design and implement efficient workflows, ensuring that our facility remains at the forefront of cryo-EM technology.
- Collaborate with researchers both within and outside the department, leveraging cryo-EM to directly impact the advancement of medicines.
- Establish strong relationships with manufacturers to ensure the best support and updates for the equipment.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cryo-EM technology, ensuring that our team and facility remain at the forefront of the field.
- PhD in a biological, biochemical or physical sciences discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience with operation of screening and high-resolution data-collection microscopes.
- Knowledge of all stages of single particle cryo-EM process from protein purification to grid optimisation, data-processing, 3-D reconstruction and structure interpretation.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and team working skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
