Key Responsibilities:
  • **Provide tailored support** to students with SEMH needs, prioritizing their academic progress and emotional wellbeing.
  • **Collaborate with the educational team** to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
  • **Deliver targeted interventions**, both one-on-one and in small groups, to address the specific needs of students.
  • **Support teachers** in managing classroom behaviour, promoting positive behaviour, and encouraging social interaction among students.
  • **Work closely with teaching staff** to modify and deliver engaging lessons that cater to the individual needs of students with SEMH challenges.
  • **Provide emotional and social support** to students, helping to cultivate a positive and supportive school experience.
  • **Regularly monitor and record student progress**, sharing relevant updates with teachers and parents to ensure consistent support.
  • **Participate in ongoing professional development** and training to enhance knowledge and skills in SEMH support.
Requirements:
  • **Previous experience** working with students with SEMH needs, ideally within a secondary school setting.
  • **Strong communication and interpersonal skills**, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • **Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion** for supporting students with additional needs.
  • **A clear understanding** of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of all students.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • **Experience** working in a secondary school environment.
  • **Knowledge** of strategies and interventions specifically designed to support SEMH needs in older students.
  • **First Aid training**.
  • **Additional qualifications** in special education, child development, or related fields are highly desirable.
