Role Overview
As a Production and Repair Operator at Thales, you will play a vital role in our manufacturing team located in Templecombe, where we are at the forefront of developing next-generation Sonar technologies recognized globally.
This position is ideal for individuals with practical experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, providing an opportunity to enhance your technical skills and knowledge while building a successful career with a leader in the industry. We also welcome candidates who may lack extensive commercial experience but possess relevant qualifications such as BTECs or NVQs, provided they can demonstrate the necessary drive, enthusiasm, and potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute manufacturing operations in accordance with engineering specifications and documentation, adhering to allocated timeframes and quality standards.
- Assist in the development and production of Conformal Panels, ensuring compliance with required quality standards through teamwork and collaboration.
- Manufacture Conformal Panels while logging and escalating any quality non-conformances to the Inspector/QA representative.
- Prioritize on-time delivery (OTD), ensuring that production schedules are met.
- Identify and escalate any blockers or issues to the Layer Leader.
- Understand and adhere to Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and COSHH guidelines, ensuring all incidents are reported accurately to Health & Safety leaders.
- Maintain 5S standards in the workplace.
Required Skills and Experience
- Ability to interpret technical build packs.

- Completion of a time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Possession of Level 2 BTEC or NVQ, ONC, City and Guilds Electrical, or equivalent qualifications.
- Three years of practical Operator experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
