We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Maternity Care Assistant to join our team at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. As a Maternity Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to women and babies within our maternity services.
Key Responsibilities- Assist midwives during antenatal and postnatal clinics and checks, meeting and greeting women, listening and comforting, fetching equipment, preparing rooms and couches, and helping with baby care and breastfeeding.
- Clean, restock, and make ready beds, cubicles, rooms, and other clinical areas between patients on the antenatal/postnatal ward, labour ward, and in clinics.
- Monitor, order, and store clinical and non-clinical supplies in a tidy and organized manner, working with housekeepers and clerical support staff.
- Work with all staff to ensure a clean, safe, and tidy working environment in clinical and non-clinical areas, in the community and in hospital.
- Assist midwives with the cleaning, care, and orderly storage of medical devices and other clinical equipment.
- Welcome, supervise, and attend to the needs of visitors to the hospital, being mindful of security policies.
- Treat family members and others involved in support of mother and baby with courtesy and respect in community settings.
- Report accidents and incidents to the midwife in charge and complete appropriate records.
- Ability to write clearly and legibly in English.
- Willingness to undertake the Health and Social Care level 3 apprenticeship.
- Understanding of confidentiality and standards of conduct and care.
