We are seeking an experienced and skilled Housing Solutions Specialist to join our team at Colchester Borough Homes. As an Initial Assessment Officer, you will play a critical role in determining the eligibility, homelessness, and threatened homelessness status of applicants within a 56-day timeframe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough initial assessments of applicants to determine their eligibility, homelessness, and threatened homelessness status.
  • Use an innovative approach to assess applicants' circumstances and make informed decisions.
  • Manage a varied workload and meet business objectives and performance targets.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective solutions to address homelessness.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a customer-focused approach.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of the Housing Act 1996 Part 7 (as amended) and the Homeless Reduction Act 2017.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using innovative approaches to assess applicants' circumstances.
