Are you a parent or caregiver with personal experience in supporting a child with mental health challenges?

This role is for a Parent and Carer Support Specialist within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) at Oxford Health NHS Trust.

Parent and Carer Support Specialists (PCSS) are individuals who have navigated the complexities of mental health challenges, either through their own experiences or by supporting a child facing such challenges. They utilize their insights to provide empathetic support to families and service users engaged with mental health services.

We seek compassionate individuals who excel in teamwork, are highly driven, and possess outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal. Comprehensive training will be provided, along with opportunities to pursue a nationally recognized care certificate.

Main Responsibilities

The Parent and Carer Support Specialist role integrates lived experience into daily practice. PCSS will engage in both group and individual support, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to assist service users on their recovery journey. The role involves facilitating both formal and informal learning opportunities, working alongside clinical staff to enhance recovery-oriented practices.

The primary focus of this position is to provide peer support to families within CAMHS. The PCSS will exemplify best practices in applying recovery principles, demonstrating personal accountability, self-awareness, and self-care while fulfilling their responsibilities.
