Job Description

**Role Summary**

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our Sector Performance directorate as an Operational Performance Policy Principal. This role is instrumental in shaping Ofwat policy and driving up sector and company performance.

The directorate drives up sector and company performance by regularly, visibly, and proactively challenging companies on their performance, using data and operational expertise.

This role will be critical in our evolving approach to how we regulate poorly performing companies.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Lead and drive necessary policy development work for performance monitoring
  • Develop and implement strategies for improving sector and company performance
  • Work with senior internal and external stakeholders to communicate complex concepts and information clearly
  • Collaborate with a matrix of technical, data and analytical expertise across Ofwat to create policy conditions for delivering meaningful change

**Requirements**

  • Expert knowledge and proven experience leading on policy development and delivery in a regulatory environment
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent knowledge/experience in a technical field including regulation, economics, scientific disciplines, engineering, or asset management
  • Excellent understanding of regulation including monitoring performance, protecting customers and prioritising risks and issues
  • Proven experience of taking options and ideas through governance, challenge and peer review processes
  • Ability to lead, plan and manage projects under challenging circumstances
  • Experience of leading others and managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines
