Main Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical support to the day therapy centre (chemotherapy day ward), supporting clinical teams in the management of oncology in-patients, and participating in MDT meetings.

Key Duties
  • Provision of medical support to the day therapy centre (chemotherapy day ward)
  • Support to clinical teams in the management of oncology in-patients
  • Participation in MDT meetings
  • Provision of clinical support to oncology clinical nurse specialists
  • Audit and Clinical Governance
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in General Medicine and oncology, with experience in research and good practical clinical skills. They will also have intermediate to advanced IT skills and be able to manage priorities, lead project teams, and demonstrate management/leadership skills.

Essential Qualifications
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council
  • MRCP or equivalent
Desirable Qualifications
  • Wide experience in General Medicine and oncology
  • Experience in research
  • Good practical clinical skills
  • Intermediate to advanced IT skills

This is a full-time specialty doctor post in the Oncology Department at The Great Western Hospital. The appointed candidate will join an existing team of 10 oncology medical staff, including consultants, SAS doctors, and specialist trainees.
