We are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our team as Process and Mechanical Engineering Industrial Placement Students. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that contribute to the development of clean energy solutions.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative environment. As a Process and Mechanical Engineering Industrial Placement Student, you will be responsible for:

  • Assuming technical and engineering responsibility for delivering standard engineering design tasks with standard techniques.
  • Working effectively in a team to deliver non-standard engineering design tasks or tasks concerning the application of standard tools to more complex chemical processes.
  • Using effective verbal and written communication to explain problems, solutions, and proposals with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining an effective business relationship with Westinghouse customers.
Key Responsibilities

As a Process and Mechanical Engineering Industrial Placement Student, you will be expected to:

  • Maintain a personal commitment to nuclear safety and compliance with company policies.
  • Provide support in the development of technical solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Use verbal and written communications to define, progress, and report on assigned work packages.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with team members, internal stakeholders, and clients or partner organizations.

  • Ability to quickly learn to evaluate, select, and utilize standards, techniques, procedures, and criteria for development of engineering design documents.
  • Self-motivation, capable of determining required activities, prioritizing, and scheduling tasks while progressing towards an agreed project deliverable.
  • A commitment to personal development.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Pursue a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering degree.
  • Be over 18 years of age.
  • Be eligible to work in the UK legally.
  • Be able to work for a 12-month period starting August-September 2024 (start date flexible).
  • Have basic knowledge obtained from core university courses.
  • Be proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Access.
