JOB TITLE: Class Teacher - Key Stage 1 - Independent School

SALARY: £26,000 - £30,000

As a vital member of our educational team, you will collaborate with fellow educators to nurture and instruct the students enrolled at our institution. Your role will be pivotal in fostering a stimulating learning environment and upholding the values of our independent school under the guidance of the Headteacher.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to the school's policies and procedures, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of these guidelines.
  • Establish yourself as a professional and supportive figure for both parents and students.
  • Share accountability for the health and safety of all students and staff members.
  • Plan engaging activities and assess student progress to support their overall development.
  • Contribute to tailored programs for students with special educational needs.
  • Ensure compliance with the school's non-discrimination policy, providing opportunities for students to embrace their cultural identities.
  • Engage students through storytelling and reading sessions.
  • Facilitate both teacher-led and child-initiated learning experiences in various settings.
  • Supervise educational excursions, prioritizing student safety at all times.
  • Prepare weekly lesson plans, contribute to medium-term planning, and participate in regular planning meetings.
  • Organize and maintain classroom resources in an engaging manner, encouraging student involvement in setup and cleanup.
  • Collaborate on classroom displays and shared responsibilities.
  • Conduct observations and assessments of students, maintaining accurate records.
  • Manage classroom resources, including books and materials.
  • Create and repair materials for educational activities.
  • Utilize technology to enhance student learning and improve classroom displays.
  • Assist in maintaining student records and managing financial transactions as directed.
  • Address the needs of unwell students, providing support until a parent or guardian arrives.
  • Administer basic first aid, ensuring regular training updates.
  • Support students awaiting collection by parents or guardians.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized classroom environment daily.
  • Complete end-of-term tasks to a high standard.
  • Attend required meetings as scheduled by the Headteacher.
  • Engage with parents to foster a collaborative educational environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities during school hours.
  • Share insights and materials with colleagues following professional development sessions.
  • Ensure the safety of students who may be unaware of potential hazards.
  • Work in an environment accommodating students with diverse personal care needs.
  • Collaborate with other teams to maintain appropriate staff-to-student ratios.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, commensurate with your role.
