Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Distilleries Engineer to join our team at Beam Suntory. As a key member of our distillery operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our distilleries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the current Bowmore and Laphroaig distillery teams to ensure high levels of efficiency and safety.
  • Develop and implement Planned Preventative Maintenance programs to maintain equipment to the highest standard.
  • React quickly to unplanned electrical and mechanical breakdown situations.
  • Support all technical aspects of project work and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Be the main point of contact for all engineering work at Bowmore distillery/Laphroaig distillery.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and practices, including OBSW, EHS, Visual Management, Autonomous Maintenance, 5S, and Focused Improvement.
  • Plan and execute Planned Preventative Maintenance with inspections carried out to a high degree of detail and on time.
  • Operate a Permit to Work system and ensure all contractors provide job-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Engage in Hazard Awareness reporting and take action to eliminate or mitigate identified hazards.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair under Lockout Tagout (LOTO) system and update LOTO records.
  • Implement an autonomous maintenance program through operator training.
  • Analyze poor or declining performance and implement effective and sustainable solutions.
Requirements
  • HNC in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Multi-Disciplinary Engineering.
  • Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship.
  • Experience within the Scotch Whisky Industry or a similar FMCG environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Versed in multiple continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, etc.).
  • Possess a valid driver's license for driving to remote plants.
  • Ability to work across multiple locations and geographies.
  • COMPEX and working toward 18th edition.
  • PLC programming.
