Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Podiatrist Specialist to join our team at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist Podiatrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with moderate and high-risk podiatric conditions in a variety of settings.
Main Responsibilities:
- Providing Clinical Care: You will provide efficient, effective, and high-quality treatment to patients in different settings, including community and hospital settings.
- Developing Treatment Plans: You will develop treatment plans for high-risk and moderate-level patients with podiatric problems, including a course of treatment, foot health education, advice, and discharge as appropriate.
- Working in Various Settings: You will provide services at various sites, including patients' homes, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals, and in challenging conditions, often working in isolation.
- Managing Clinical Caseload: You will manage a clinical caseload of patients with a wide variety of conditions, ensuring that patients benefit from high-quality, evidence-based interventions, which you will deliver and record according to professional standards and legal requirements.

We are a leading healthcare provider in the North East of England, managing three major locality hospitals and a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics. We strive to provide high-quality patient care and give people greater choice and control over their care to help them live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: You must have a relevant diploma/degree in Chiropody/Podiatric Medicine from a recognized institution and have previous accumulated postgraduate experience.
- Registration: You must demonstrate continued registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Certificate in Local Anaesthesia: You must have a certificate in local anaesthesia.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Prescribing for Podiatrists: You must have experience in prescribing for podiatrists.
- Diploma in Diabetes Care: You must have a diploma in diabetes care.
- Health Education Certificate: You must have a health education certificate.
- Teachers Certificate: You must have a teachers certificate.
- Preparation for Mentoring Course: You must have completed a preparation for mentoring course.
- Radiology and Diagnostic Skills: You must have radiology and diagnostic skills.
- Shoe Fitting Skills: You must have shoe fitting skills.
- ECDL European Computer Driving Licence: You must have an ECDL European Computer Driving Licence.
- Clinical Educator Qualification: You must have a clinical educator qualification.
Essential Experience and Knowledge:
- Continual Professional Development: You must have a history of continual professional development while continuing to attend organized departmental and regional/national events.
- High Degree of Knowledge: You must have a high degree of knowledge over a wide range of clinical conditions, including diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral vascular disease, biomechanics, and must have developed a high level of manual dexterity.
Other Requirements:
- Driving Licence: You must hold a current driving licence.
