Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Podiatrist to join our Central Podiatry Team in Northumberland. Based at Nursery Park Health Centre, the successful candidate will provide high-quality care to moderate and high-risk patients in various settings. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively as part of a team, and independently. The podiatry team collaborates with multidisciplinary teams in the community and hospital settings to provide safe and quality patient-focused care.

Main Duties of the Job

Providing efficient, effective, and high-quality treatment to patients in a range of settings.

Developing and implementing treatment plans for high-risk and moderate-level patients with podiatric problems, including foot health education, advice, and discharge as appropriate.

Assessing, diagnosing, developing, implementing, and reviewing individual care plans for patients with a wide range of clinical needs.

Managing an individual caseload to provide specialist care, with a focus on patient empowerment and independence through education and support.

Providing services at various sites, including patients' homes, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals, and challenging conditions, often working in isolation.

The successful candidate will be required to carry a clinical caseload of patients with a wide variety of conditions, ensuring that patients benefit from high-quality, evidence-based interventions, delivered and recorded according to professional standards and legal requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Working as part of a highly motivated team, with NHS post-registration experience and/or completion of a band 6 competency-based programme. The job entails autonomous working across community and acute settings, providing a high standard of quality clinical care.

Role modeling compassionate and inclusive leadership to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust, demonstrating a consistent leadership style that engages, enables, and empowers others, uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement, and facilitates team working and collaboration within teams/departments and across organisational boundaries.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Relevant diploma/degree in Chiropody/Podiatric Medicine from a recognised institution and previous accumulated postgraduate experience.
  • Continued registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Certificate in local anaesthesia.

Desirable

  • Prescribing for Podiatrists.
  • Diploma in Diabetes Care.
  • Health Education Certificate.
  • Teachers Certificate.
  • Preparation for Mentoring Course.
  • Radiology and Diagnostic Skills.
  • Shoe Fitting Skills.
  • ECDL European Computer Driving Licence.
  • Clinical Educator qualification.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • History of continual professional development, attending organised departmental and regional/national events. The post holder will have a high degree of knowledge over a wide range of clinical conditions, including diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, peripheral vascular disease, biomechanics, and developed a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Experience of working in the NHS and completion of a Senior II competency programme.

Desirable

  • Range of relevant short courses.
  • Held a previous post in the relevant field.
