Job Description

South West Recruitment is seeking an experienced Aerospace Engineering Workshop Manager to lead our aerospace engineering workshop.

About the Role

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the workshop team to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of projects.
  • Oversee the manufacturing and maintenance of aerospace components using CNC machines.
  • Train, mentor, and provide guidance to workshop personnel, including CNC machinists, to optimize their performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in the workshop environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to prioritize and schedule work orders based on operational and customer requirements.
  • Experience in managing several shop floor machinists, both skilled & semi-skilled.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills.
  • Motivate and drive workforce.
  • Be a problem solver - investigate, advise & recommend solutions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within an engineering workshop, preferably in the aerospace industry.
  • Proficiency with CNC machines, as well as familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage a diverse team.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and a commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • As the Engineering Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the workshop.
  • Collaborating with the team on project planning and execution.
  • Conducting performance evaluations.
  • Actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • You will also interface with other departments to ensure seamless workflow and address any production challenges that may arise.
  • Monitoring production flow.
  • Maintain processes & procedures.
  • Maximising cycle times.
  • Keeping machines running and meeting OEE targets.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday 7.30am - 4.30pm and 7.30am pm Friday (39 hours)

Salary

£24 per hour depending on experience, equating to £48,672 per annum
