Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Directorate Team as a Head of Pharmacy. This role will provide leadership and strategic direction to the team, working closely with the Assistant Director of Pharmacy and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality, safe, and effective care across Joined Up Care Derbyshire.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead place-based functions across the North East Derbyshire & Bolsover, High Peak, Dales & Glossop geographical areas, working closely with other Heads of Pharmacy with place-based responsibilities.
  • Support the work of the Medical Directorate in delivering high-quality, safe, and effective care across care pathways within Joined Up Care Derbyshire, while delivering Population Health Management, prevention, and the effective reduction of Health Inequalities.
  • Lead on the effective planning, development, and delivery of specific areas of the Derbyshire Pharmacy Directorate Team and system programmes and work plans, including the management of key projects/services and staff management.
  • Coordinate and manage the work of the Pharmacy Directorate Team, providing regular mentorship and training to ensure a coordinated approach across Derbyshire.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, including clinicians, pharmacists, technicians, and the ICB, to influence prescribing and commissioning behavior according to ICB policy.
  • Lead on the integration of pharmacy professionals across the ICS, ensuring the development of ICS pharmacy and multidisciplinary networks.
  • Provide professional pharmaceutical advice and guidance on immunization and vaccinations, including COVID vaccinations, and liaison with the VOC.

Job Requirements
  • Pharmacy degree and educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience working at a senior level in a specialist area.
  • Significant experience working in a primary care organization, specialist prescribing advisory role.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Evidence of post-qualifying and continuing professional development.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team, including GPs and other prescribers.
  • Experience of clinical audit, change management, strategic development, project management, and leadership.
  • Experience of staff management and performance management, including budgetary.
Key Skills
  • Ability to identify risks, anticipate issues, and create solutions and to resolve problems in relation to project or service delivery.
  • Evidence of planning and delivering programs and projects and services on time.
  • Ability to work without supervision, providing specialist advice to the organization, working to tight and often changing timescales.
  • Demonstrate the behaviors that underpin the ICB's core value of 'One Team'.
