About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Financial Assistant/Management Accountant to join our team at Stephenson Harwood LLC. As a key member of our accounts department, you will play a vital role in supporting the preparation of monthly Management Accounts, maintaining the fixed asset register, and authorizing and verifying supplier invoices and staff expense claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Management Accountants with the preparation of monthly Management Accounts, including posting prepayments, accruals, and journals.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Authorize and verify supplier invoices, staff expense claims, and bank payments, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist Management Accountants with budgeting and forecasting, providing financial insights and recommendations.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual legal surveys and National Statistics reports, providing valuable insights to the business.
  • Prepare ad hoc management information data, supporting business decision-making.
Requirements
  • Experience working in the accounts department of a professional services firm, preferably in a similar role.
  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data.
  • A flexible, professional, and proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Able to use own initiative and challenge work practices, ensuring continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent team player qualities.
  • Be flexible to do additional hours when necessary to meet task deadlines.
Education and Experience
  • Studying towards an accountancy qualification, such as ACCA or CIMA.
  • Experience in management accounting, preferably in a similar role.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience of the legal or professional services environment.
