We are seeking an Educational Technology Specialist to become a vital part of our team.

As a member of the Learning Technology division, the Educational Technology Specialist (ETS) will play a crucial role in enhancing the utilization of educational platforms and tools aimed at enriching the experience for both students and faculty. This position involves assisting staff and learners, troubleshooting issues, and offering guidance and training on the effective use of technology.

The focus of this role is on the daily management, upkeep, and technical assistance of the virtual learning environment (VLE) along with various other educational technology applications. Responsibilities include aiding in the replication of online modules and content uploads, ensuring that all learning materials are accessible. You will provide helpdesk support for our staff and students, addressing concerns promptly and thoroughly, and escalating issues when necessary.

Key Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in the technical administration of online platforms, particularly Moodle.
  • Background in library services within an educational context.
  • Ability to communicate methods and practices effectively to diverse audience groups.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative and professional approach.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Capability to work with minimal supervision from the Learning Technology Manager regarding specialized areas (library focus).
  • Eagerness to learn new platforms.
  • Understanding of the significance of accessibility in online education.
  • Proficient in current web technologies and trends.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.
  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.

Desirable Skills

  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Familiarity with recognized web usability and accessibility standards.
  • Understanding of e-learning technical standards, such as SCORM, and adherence to them.
  • Previous experience in post-secondary education.
