About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Randstad, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping our students overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Individualised Support: Provide targeted one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage in their learning and develop key life skills.
  • Tailored Learning Plans: Collaborate with teachers to implement personalised learning strategies that cater to both academic and emotional needs, ensuring students stay on track.
  • Positive Behaviour Management: Use effective behaviour management techniques to encourage positive attitudes and support students in managing their emotions and behaviour.
  • Holistic Development: Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons and activities that promote social, emotional, and academic growth, ensuring an inclusive and supportive environment.
  • Parental and Professional Liaison: Work closely with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students, fostering strong relationships between home and school.
  • Progress Monitoring: Keep detailed records of student progress, providing valuable feedback to the teaching team and contributing to tailored student development plans.
Requirements
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience working with students who have SEMH needs or in a similar support role.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to stay calm and empathetic in challenging situations.
  • Passion for SEMH Support: A genuine passion for supporting the emotional and social well-being of children and young people.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: The flexibility to adapt support strategies to meet individual student needs and work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
  • SEN Experience (Desirable): Experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) support is a plus but not essential.
