Teaching Personnel is seeking compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistants to work within a specialized secondary school ASD base in Newport. This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people aged 11-16 who have Autism.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide both individual and group support to students with Additional Learning Needs, including those with Autism, Learning Difficulties, and ADHD. Your responsibilities will encompass assisting students in developing self-confidence, social interaction skills, and a sense of accomplishment. You will work collaboratively as part of a team with other teaching staff, adhering to school policies and fostering a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized classroom support to pupils with Additional Learning Needs, particularly those with Autism, Learning Difficulties, and ADHD.
- Assist students in developing self-confidence and social interaction skills.
- Encourage students to take pride in their achievements and foster a positive learning environment.
- Collaborate effectively as part of a team with other members of the teaching staff, adhering to school policies and ethos.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will possess a calm, supportive, and nurturing demeanor while also demonstrating firmness when necessary. You will be a role model for students, providing guidance, support, and encouragement. While prior experience supporting children or vulnerable individuals is beneficial, it is not essential. If you lack classroom experience, we encourage you to highlight transferable skills that demonstrate your suitability for this role.
Requirements:
- Enhanced DBS on the update service
- EWC registration
- Two references
Teaching Personnel will provide comprehensive support throughout the onboarding process, including assistance with obtaining the necessary clearances and registrations.
