About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as the Lead Chaplain / Head of Pastoral & Spiritual Care. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse community of patients, carers, and staff, providing generic pastoral and spiritual support at the Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospitals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of chaplains and volunteers to provide pastoral and spiritual support to patients, carers, and staff.
  • Recruit, train, and support pastoral support volunteers to ensure effective delivery of services.
  • Work generically across the diversity of religious faiths and non-religious world views, with the ability to provide religious support from a specific faith perspective with endorsement from the relevant faith community.
  • Manage the staff/client interface in a pastoral support setting, ensuring effective communication and conflict resolution.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, carers, and staff.
  • Collaborate with local GPs, charities, community services, academic partners, and the wider North West London Integrated care system to ensure effective partnership working.
Requirements
  • Relevant professional qualification in pastoral support, counselling, or social care.
  • Experience of leading and developing a team, with a proven track record of management or supervisory experience within a volunteering context.
  • Effective budget and people management skills.
  • Understanding of the role of pastoral and spiritual support in health and social care settings.
  • Ability to maintain professional and emotional boundaries.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Qualification at diploma level in spirituality, religious studies, or theology.
  • Management or leadership qualification (or equivalent experience).
  • Working knowledge of the beliefs and practices of some of the major world faiths and beliefs represented in the local community.
