Job Purpose:

The Driver will provide reliable and safe driving services to support the Director and other high-ranking UN officials and visitors, ensuring the highest standards of discretion and integrity. The Driver will also be responsible for maintaining the assigned vehicle, ensuring it is in good working condition, and performing minor repairs as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by driving office vehicles for the transport of UNFPA Director, other high-ranking officials and visitors, and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items.
  • Keeps abreast of traffic, road-security and safety awareness to enable safe and on-time arrival for meetings.
  • Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  • Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes and water levels, car washing, etc.
  • Assists office staff in filing, photocopying and maintaining stores when required.
  • Provides backup support for basic IT related functions including setting up teleconference equipment for meetings.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Three years work experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record.
  • Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, and local roads and conditions, and defensive driving skills.
  • Basic Knowledge of IT will be an added advantage.
