Are you an accomplished engineer eager to enhance the quality of life for the residents of Huddersfield? We are seeking a Senior Engineer to oversee our Street Lighting Division.

In this role, you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and enhancement of street lighting assets, while executing a substantial capital LED initiative. Your expertise will also be vital in delivering street lighting designs and services for both developers and council projects, ensuring high-quality performance for our community.

We are looking for a Senior Engineer who possesses:

  • A valid driving license and the ability to undertake a driving assessment, or the capability to utilize public transport effectively.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.

As a Senior Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing the team to provide street lighting services, including budget and resource management.
  • Overseeing the preparation of street lighting and electrical designs.
  • Fulfilling the duty holder's role under the Construction Regulations 2015, specifically as Designer / Principal Designer.
  • Developing estimates, technical reports, feasibility studies, design specifications, and contract documents, along with project management tasks such as scheduling and cost monitoring.
  • Creating environmental impact assessments, economic evaluations, and business cases.
  • Contributing to compliance with Quality Management Systems, including conducting site-specific audits.
  • Managing and executing the LED capital investment program and monitoring associated funding grants.
  • Collaborating daily with Councillors, MPs, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and comprehensive responses.
  • Engaging with clients, external partners, the council's internal construction team, Northern Power Grid, and subcontractors to guarantee high-quality service delivery.
  • Maintaining the street lighting inventory to ensure accurate updates reflecting energy savings and reduced carbon footprints.
  • Overseeing the street lighting energy budget.
  • Ensuring the wellbeing of yourself and others.
