Job Title: Managing Editor, Europe

Feature Story News (FSN) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Managing Editor to join its management team in London. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing FSN's network of European bureaus, assigning teams to breaking stories and deployments, and overseeing the production of packaged news reports and live operations in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage FSN's network of European bureaus, ensuring seamless operations and high-quality content delivery.
  • Assign teams to breaking stories and deployments, utilizing your expertise to make informed decisions.
  • Oversee the production of packaged news reports and live operations in the field, working closely with reporters, producers, camera operators, and news editors.
  • Liaise with broadcast client requests and bureau pitching, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Collaborate with reporters, producers, camera operators, news editors, and clients to deliver high-quality content.
  • Be open to critique, feedback, and training, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Adapt well to new technology, staying up-to-date with the latest tools and platforms.
  • Be available for breaking news travel and deployments across Europe, visiting European teams and bureaus as needed.
  • Work unpredictable hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the demands of the role.
  • Roster European staff to align with client requirements, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Communicate regularly with FSN's executive leadership team, providing updates and insights on European operations.
  • Involvement in hiring new staff in the Europe region, contributing to the growth and development of the team.
  • On-air reporting for broadcast clients, showcasing your expertise and presenting news stories effectively.

Requirements:

  • Production and management experience with a news organization, with a proven track record of success.
  • Ability to assign TV news stories and features, utilizing your expertise to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to manage contributions to a wide range of platforms across TV, radio, and digital, ensuring seamless content delivery.
  • Ability to work to deadline in a fast news environment, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
  • Ability to manage and work as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals.
