Mechanical Systems Technician

The mechanical maintenance division at Tata Chemicals Europe is on the lookout for a skilled technician proficient in mechanical upkeep, rigging, lifting, and fabrication, ideally within a heavy industrial setting. This position operates Monday to Friday with a structured on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities- Conducting maintenance, overhauls, and repairs on various machinery and equipment.
- Executing mandatory overhauls as per regulatory requirements.
- Implementing and managing planned preventive maintenance schedules and inspections.
- Reducing downtime while enhancing production reliability.
- Providing after-hours on-call support as part of a collaborative team rotation (salary includes an on-call allowance, with overtime compensation for emergency call-ins).
The successful candidate will possess a proactive attitude and a strong commitment to safety, recognizing the importance of equipment availability in a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Completion of an Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 / ONC standards in a relevant mechanical field.
- Experience in the installation of piping systems, rotating machinery, packaging lines, centrifugal pumps, and large-scale fans.
- Proficient in rigging, lifting, and slinging using overhead cranes and other manual handling equipment.
- Familiarity with bucket elevators, belt conveyors, and drag link conveyors.
- Competent in the use of various hand tools.
- Experience in vessel work, including preparation for pressure vessel inspections.
- Ability to interpret basic engineering drawings.
- Fabrication skills, including arc welding and oxy-fuel cutting.
- Knowledge of steam turbines, hydraulics, pneumatics, compressors, and forklift operation is advantageous.
