Job Title: Junior Mechanical Contracts Manager

Job Summary:

The Junior Mechanical Contracts Manager will assist in the management of our dynamic department, performing as a Junior under the mechanical contracts manager. The successful candidate will be commercially focused and have a target to deliver a high degree of customer satisfaction.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage, monitor, and successfully deliver Mechanical Contracts for our clients within a range of sectors including Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Leisure, and Large-Scale Residential.
  • Ensure all works are carried out to a high standard, ensuring all RAMS and site safety plans are project specific and adhered to.
  • Assist with the procurement and ordering of key materials and appointments of subcontract supply chain, ensuring specifications and drawing requirements are being complied with and are commercially viable.
  • Have good working relationships with our clients and ensure that all works are programmed and completed in a professional controlled manner.
  • Provide technical support to customers and team.
  • Attend regular main contractor design, technical, and progress meetings and assist the contracts manager in closing out the associated action points.
  • Assist the contracts manager in managing the in-house and subcontract labour resources, ensuring quality of work and compliance with all legal and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure all engineers are up to date with all current regulations and training.
  • Accurately monitor and cost contract change instructions/variations.
  • Issue interim valuation claims accurately in line with works completed on site.
  • Problem Solving: You will be expected to be able to cope with unforeseen M&E technical problems with confidence and ease.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with our written policies and good practice.
  • Prepare and present internal monthly contract reports detailing key performance indicators as well as stringent cost reporting.

  • Criteria Essential: Time served Plumber/Heating Engineer with commercial and industrial experience and/or Building Services Engineering Degree with aspirations to become a mechanical contracts Manager, Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to work to a plan to avoid disappointments, Good interpersonal skills to create meaningful reciprocal relationships with both colleagues and clients, Commercially aware of costs and trends in the market place, Good knowledge of safety, health, environment, and quality systems, Good personal organisation, honesty, communication, ownership, reliability, and dependability.
  • Criteria Desirable: Having already enrolled or plan to enrol for an HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering, Use of specialist software packages such as Amtech, Autodesk products, and the like, Understand electrical skills including controls systems.
