Senior Manager, Account Management

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Account Management to join our team at NHS. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing financial and technical support to the Head of Income, ensuring the provision of a professional and comprehensive service both internally and externally to the Trust.
Main Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Income in the provision of a professional and comprehensive service both internally and externally to the Trust.
- Day-to-day management of the 2 contract and income accountants, providing training, coaching, and feedback as necessary.
- Detailed understanding of NHS Payments Scheme (NHSPS) and financial aspects of the NHS standard contract.
- Manage the Service Level Agreement Monitoring (SLAM) software to ensure upgrades are undertaken as required and that software is used as efficiently as possible and to best advantage.
- Maintain coding structures with SLAM to enable both summary and detailed reporting hierarchy.
- Maintain effective working relationships and liaise with the Information Team to ensure that the data received is robust and, in a format, consistent with the requirements of SLAM, the NHS contract, and NHSPS guidance.
- Ensure that SLAM is updated twice monthly to provide accurate, complete, and timely reporting in line with the Trust's month-end timetable and again in accordance with the national billing timetable.
- Prepare reports for management and budget holders comparing activity to plan, income to budget, best practice tariff monitoring analysis, etc.
- Ensure accurate recording of NHS patient care income in the financial ledger, ensuring invoices are raised by the team as appropriate, reconciled, and income received is accurate and reconciled to that expected.
- Resolve any issues, including liaising with Commissioners to negotiate appropriate solutions to disputes, which will require analysis of patient-level data and specialist knowledge of NHSPS.
- Ensure that the NHS Patient Care elements of the general ledger are reconciled and accurate.
- Transact Contract Variations in SLAM and ensure that necessary reporting changes are made to reflect these.
- Investigate financial queries from Commissioners and respond to resolve these wherever possible.
- Lead the drug level planning process with Lincolnshire ICB for high-cost excluded drugs.
- Use and interpret complex national guidance on NHS Payments System and provide specialist financial advice and act as a point of reference for enquiries relating to the NHS Payments Scheme and financial aspects of the NHS standard contract guidance.
- Ensure that activity and tariff monitoring data, as required by the NHS standard contract, is submitted to the National Data Landing Portal in accordance with national requirements and quality standards.
- Maintain effective working relationships and liaise with the Pharmacy Department to ensure that data is recorded on the pharmacy system and translated for billing purposes correctly.
- Ensure the preparation and submission of data required to support payment of nationally funded drugs and devices.
- Calculate the variable elements of the NHS standard contract in accordance with the requirements of contract, Aligned Payment Incentive (API), and Elective Recovery Funding (ERF) rules as appropriate.
- Prepare detailed working papers to support the NHS patient care income in the Trust's statutory final accounts.
- Identify issues in relation to, and respond to queries regarding, the implications of activity recording and provide financial advice regarding NHS income from patient care to Clinicians, Managers, and other members of the finance department.
- Support the Overseas Team with activity and pricing queries to assist accurate invoices of patients and collection of income due.
- Support implementation of clinical software to ensure that the recording of activity will provide the information needed to support accurate and timely invoicing of Commissioners.
- Lead on and develop reporting capabilities, which include outputs from multiple systems such as Excel, Power BI, and other appropriate programmes.
- Provide training to colleagues at various levels throughout the Trust to give a broad understanding of the payment arrangements for NHS patient activity and implications of activity recording bad practice.
- Ability to understand and interpret new guidance and keep up to date with changing policy.
- Implementation of internal/external audit reviews and recommendations in relation to relevant financial processes within the section.
- Co-ordinate and facilitate training within the Trust to give an overview of the current financial regime and process involved in charging for NHS patient activity at an appropriate level.
Requirements:
- CCAB Qualified/Or relevant qualified by experience.
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development.
- Undertaking or willing to undertake further management courses/Educated to Degree level.
- Educated to Degree level.

Previous Experience:
- Previous experience and detailed understanding of NHS national tariff and financial elements of the national NHS contract.
- Producing and presenting information at various levels dependent on organisational structure.
- Experience of IT, including advanced spreadsheets, computerised financial ledgers, budgeting, and financial modelling systems, and costing systems.
- Understanding of NHS Financial Regime.
- Previous finance experience within the Health Service.
- Understanding of the principles of the national HRG grouper.
- Previous Senior Financial experience within the NHS.
