Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our dynamic SEND school, working with secondary-aged children who have a variety of complex needs and can present challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with a range of SEND needs.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour in line with school policies and strategies.
  • Develop trusting relationships with students, helping them to engage in their learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to create tailored learning plans.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students, promoting positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, addressing any safeguarding concerns in line with school policies.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children who have SEND needs or in a similar role (e.g. behavioural support).
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to working with young people who can display challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • A flexible and proactive attitude, with the willingness to adapt to changing situations.
  • Passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning and succeed in their education.
