Deputy Manager Job Description

YHA Borrowdale is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the hostel manager in the day-to-day operational management of the hostel and delivering an excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the hostel manager in achieving targets across all aspects of the hostel operation, including food and beverage, and maximising revenue while controlling expenditure.
  • Manage a team of employees and occasional volunteers, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Contribute to the team effort in the day-to-day operation of the hostel, undertaking housekeeping, reception, and food and beverage tasks as required.
  • Support the management of an operational budget and delivery of KPIs, requiring previous leadership experience and budget management skills.
Requirements:
  • Flexibility to cover different shifts and tasks, with an advantage of previous experience in a face-to-face role with customers.
  • Desirable experience in hospitality or customer service, including management and delivery of a quality service.
  • Food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, timekeeping, and basic IT skills.
