Financial Analyst

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at British Airways, specializing in Cloud Cost Optimization. As a key member of our IT Finance team, you will play a crucial role in streamlining our cloud infrastructure and maximizing financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the IT Finance team with financial data, analysis, reporting, and planning to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
• Drive new processes and tooling in relation to Technology Business Management (IT activity cost tracking) and FinOps (cloud spending and usage).
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize cloud costs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and financial goals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and technology, to drive cost optimization initiatives.
• Monitor cloud usage and spending data to identify cost-saving opportunities and develop recommendations for improvement.
• Analyze cloud usage patterns and trends to identify areas for optimization and develop strategies to improve efficiency.
• Develop and maintain financial models to forecast and track cloud costs, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
• Work with cloud service providers to negotiate pricing and contracts, ensuring optimal cost savings.
• Create reports and dashboards to track and communicate cloud cost optimization efforts to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Strong background in finance and accounting, with experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Experience in cloud computing, including cloud infrastructure, software, and platform as a service (IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS), as well as experience working with major cloud service providers such as AWS.
• Cloud billing and cost reporting knowledge, including experience with third-party or cloud-native cloud cost reporting products and tools.
• Accounting principles and financial management skills, including experience in financial modeling and cost analysis.
• Data analysis and advanced technical skills, including proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, such as data visualization, statistical analysis, and machine learning.
• Data visualization, report development, and presentation skills, including experience developing custom reporting, dashboards, and visual output from data-driven systems.
• Knowledge of industry regulations, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2, and their impact on cloud usage and cost optimization strategies.
• Knowledge and understanding of change delivery principles and methodologies, including Agile principles and Sprint Planning.
• Collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve cost optimization goals.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
