Job Summary:

Oaklands College is seeking a dynamic and experienced Fashion and Design Educator to join our team. As a Lecturer in Fashion and Design Studies, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality courses and providing a supportive learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Course Delivery: Develop and deliver engaging and relevant courses in Fashion and Design, aligned with the College's curriculum and quality standards.
  • Student Support: Provide guidance and support to students, including setting and monitoring learner targets, and ensuring they meet the required standards.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Mark and assess student work promptly, accurately, and objectively, providing constructive feedback to enhance student learning.
  • Course Administration: Carry out all associated course administration, including producing schemes of work and lesson plans, and preparing teaching materials and resources.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum changes, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills, stay updated on industry trends, and contribute to the College's quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Degree or equivalent professional experience/qualification in a Fashion or Textiles specialism.
  • Experience: Previous teaching experience, preferably within the Further Education sector, with a strong background in Fashion and Design education.
  • Skills: Competent use of CAD/Adobe software, experience in garment construction, pattern cutting, and use of industrial sewing machines, and photography skills.
