Job Title: Lecturer in Art, Fashion and Design

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lecturer in Art, Fashion and Design to join our team at Oaklands College. As a Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to our students, ensuring they achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver courses in Fashion and Design, including garment construction, pattern cutting, and use of industrial sewing machines.
  • Produce schemes of work and lesson plans, and prepare teaching materials and resources for all teaching.
  • Mark and assess student work promptly, accurately, and objectively.
  • Be responsible for learner progress, including setting and monitoring learner targets.
  • Comply with quality standards, including undertaking internal verification work.
  • Guide students toward extra support services in college.
  • Contribute to and attend meetings, events, and working parties as requested.
  • Complete learner registers accurately and on time.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent professional experience/qualification in a Fashion or Textiles specialism.
  • Experience in garment construction, pattern cutting, and use of industrial sewing machines.
  • Experience in Photography is desirable.
  • Competent use of CAD/Adobe software is desirable.
  • Previous teaching experience, preferably within the FE sector, is desirable.
  • PGCE or other teaching qualification is desirable.
