We are looking for a skilled Process Improvement Engineer to become a vital part of our team at Wabtec Corporation. Our focus is on enhancing operational efficiency and providing tailored solutions for maintenance, spare parts, and repair services in the rail industry.

Position: Process Improvement Engineer

Compensation: Competitive Salary

Work Location: Staffordshire

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30 and Friday 08:00 to 13:00, totaling 37 hours per week

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

The primary objective of this role is to enhance the assembly and production processes by analyzing product and operational methodologies, designing effective workflows, and creating comprehensive work instructions. You will support manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts to develop cost-efficient production methods for both new and existing projects.

Daily Responsibilities Include:

  • Acting as the liaison with the engineering team to facilitate the economical introduction of new products.
  • Assisting Production in diagnosing complex manufacturing issues, analyzing them, and proposing corrective actions or enhancements to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Contributing to the design of workspaces and cell layouts to optimize the overhaul and manufacturing process.
  • Determining assembly sequences and developing product structures for designated overhaul, assembly, or manufacturing tasks.
  • Interpreting and evaluating technical drawings, models, and designs for assembly and production.
  • Creating designs for tools, fixtures, testing rigs, and jigs.
  • Leading improvement initiatives and delivering presentations to management and team members.
  • Updating and maintaining Work Instructions in accordance with the latest practices and enhancements.
  • Ensuring all documentation is current and correctly revised.

Qualifications:

  • HNC engineering qualification or equivalent is essential.
  • Strong grasp of mathematics, Lean methodologies, and Six Sigma principles.
  • CAD qualification is preferred.
