About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. As a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist, you will play a key role in the delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation services and provide leadership and education to our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation services, including assessment, treatment, and advice for patients with respiratory conditions.
  • Provide leadership and education to our team, including supervision and teaching of physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and students.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and lead in departmental research and audit.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care and develop comprehensive discharge plans.
  • Participate in the on-call and emergency duty rotas as a lone practitioner within the Trust.
Requirements
  • HCPC registration and degree in physiotherapy.
  • Evidence of CPD relevant to respiratory physiotherapy.
  • Significant experience at Band 6 level in a broad range of settings, including critical care, surgery, medicine, and rehabilitation.
  • Experience in the physiotherapy management of COPD and other chronic respiratory disease.
  • Significant MDT working experience.
  • Experience of service development/audit/change management.
  • Experience of managing/supervising band 5 or 6/students/PTI/PTA.
  • Experience of teaching/contributing to inservice training, including to MDT.
  • Participation in resp out of hours working/on call.
  • NHS experience as physiotherapist.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Band 7 experience in respiratory setting.
  • Significant experience in physiotherapy management of COPD patients/PR.
  • Experience of research practice methodology/QI.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of PR including assessment/delivery/evidence.
  • Specialist knowledge of relevant respiratory physiotherapy principles in acute presentations/disease management/rehab.
  • Holistic management of COPD patients and advanced clinical reasoning.
  • Remains updated with professional practice and new research.
  • Understand legal responsibilities of profession.
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance and the implications for physiotherapy services, including experience of quality issues and audit.
  • Trust's policies of data protection, equal opportunities, and Health and Safety to meet the differing needs of the patients.
  • Practiced IT skills; Microsoft office packages.
