About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physiotherapist to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Highly Specialist Physiotherapist, you will play a key role in shaping and developing an effective physiotherapy outpatient service for adult patients with complex breathlessness and severe asthma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate the physiotherapy service in close collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients with highly complex needs, determining clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy treatment indicated.
  • Work within several multidisciplinary teams, including the consultant-led Complex Breathlessness service and the North Central and East London Regional Service Asthma Service.
  • Embed yourself within the wider St Bartholomew's Hospital therapies service.
  • Be clinically responsible for physiotherapy input to the Complex breathlessness and general outpatient respiratory caseloads.
  • Keep up to date with new developments in the specialty and share them with the team.
  • Lead on and participate in service development, ensuring clinical achievement of service standards and escalating any barriers to achievement identified.
Requirements
  • BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.
  • State registered (HCPC).
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
  • Member of the CSP (desirable).
  • Supervision Training (desirable).
  • Postgraduate formal qualification (i.e. MSc Module) (desirable).
  • Fulfils KSF outline for Physiotherapist (Band 7) (desirable).
  • Evidence of extensive postgraduate experience in cardiorespiratory and experience in respiratory outpatients.
  • Wide range of experience with different respiratory conditions.
  • Ability to assess and teach a range of airway clearance techniques.
  • Experience of quality improvement work/projects.
  • Experience within severe asthma and/or complex breathlessness, including breathing pattern retraining (desirable).
  • Relevant validated clinical courses (e.g. disordered breathing / Buteyko) accredited as equivalent to masters level (desirable).
  • Experience of Respiratory Outpatients and treatment of breathing pattern disorders (desirable).
