Underwriter Role at Morton Michel

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team at Morton Michel. As an Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in supporting our direct and wholesale teams with underwriting queries from all aspects of the customer's journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deal with underwriting referrals for new business quotations, mid-term adjustments, and renewals in line with agreed delegated underwriting authority guidelines.
  • Handle queries within agreed authority limits.
  • Be organized with your work and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Adhere to compliance and regulatory procedures.
  • Ensure that team KPIs, service standards, and targets are achieved and exceeded where possible.
  • Be responsible for Technical QA and other ad-hoc responsibilities as required by the business.
  • Be actively involved in providing training content and promoting a culture of excellent customer service, team performance, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Commercial combined insurance experience and previous knowledge of delegated authority schemes.
  • Experience of working within a regulated FCA environment.
  • Good experience using bespoke systems, preferably including Acturis.
  • High attention to detail, coupled with excellent organization and time management.
  • Ability to work under pressure, adapt, and be flexible in approach.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels.
