Site Operations Specialist
Salary – £22,308.00 per annum (plus benefits)
Hours – 37.5 hours per week, 09:00 am to 18:00 pm

As a Site Operations Specialist at FCC Environment, you will deliver a supportive, respectful, and professional service to the community by assisting them in the responsible disposal of their waste while striving to enhance recycling efforts.

The facility must be maintained and operated in accordance with environmental regulations, planning permissions, and all FCC Group policies, along with any initiatives introduced by FCC and local authorities.

This role is a full-time position, requiring work over 5 days per week, although we are open to considering job share requests to accommodate your lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Group Safe Working Procedures and prioritize safety at all times.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for yourself, colleagues, and customers.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization on site.
  • Provide exemplary customer service to the public, demonstrating politeness and professionalism.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, site staff, local authorities, and the public.
  • Guide and assist the public in the proper disposal of household waste, ensuring materials are placed in the correct containers to maximize recycling.
  • Be knowledgeable about relevant waste management licenses, risk assessments, and emergency procedures as directed by supervisors.
  • Report all accidents, near-misses, or hazardous situations to your supervisor or manager.
  • Manage traffic flow within the facility to ensure public safety.
  • Assist individuals with loading their waste into appropriate containers while adhering to health and safety protocols.
  • Safely remove items from recycling containers to prevent contamination, without climbing into containers.
  • Prevent recyclables from entering general waste containers and retrieve recyclables when safe to do so.
  • Wear all company-issued uniforms and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Document and report any incidents of violence, threats, or intimidation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Secure the facility by unlocking and locking it during operational hours.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the center, including regular cleaning of drainage systems and landscaping.
  • Ensure the office and restroom facilities are kept clean and free from inappropriate materials.
  • Maintain a daily log of events and activities at the center, documenting all visitors not depositing waste.
  • Prevent unauthorized individuals from sorting or interfering with waste at the facility.
  • Perform any reasonable and safe tasks assigned by management.
