An exceptional opportunity has emerged for a Band 6 Senior Clinical Nurse on Ward 42, which accommodates 37 beds dedicated to acute Neurology and stroke patients.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Clinical Nurse on Ward 42, you will be accountable for maintaining high standards of care and assisting the management team. The management team will also provide guidance for your professional growth. The successful candidate will coordinate ward activities and engage in clinical practice. A solid understanding of operational demands and clinical pressures is crucial while ensuring quality care and patient safety.

Job Duties

1. Responsible for personal accountability in line with the Code of Professional Conduct, contributing to corporate objectives while adhering to local, Trust, and statutory guidelines.

2. Effectively relay information regarding clinical decisions, policies, and care pathways to patients, caregivers, and the multi-disciplinary team.

3. Serve as a skilled practitioner and clinical leader, providing support to the management team and participating in service and policy development.

4. Oversee clinical assessments for a group of patients and manage a team, ensuring appropriate care is planned, executed, and evaluated.

5. Organize cross-departmental activities, including HR, resource management, and other responsibilities as needed.

6. Demonstrate advanced technical and practical skills to ensure optimal patient management, including complex patient monitoring and equipment management.

7. Mentor and develop staff, participating in supervision and performance evaluations as necessary.

8. Utilize IT systems to ensure accurate and timely patient, workforce, and resource data is available.

9. Manage expected and unexpected clinical events, adjusting physical efforts according to patient needs.

10. Provide support to patients and caregivers during challenging situations, including delivering difficult news.

11. Promote adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policies designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.

12. Maintain a clean and safe environment, ensuring compliance with Trust cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control standards.
