We are seeking an experienced and skilled Biomedical Scientist to join our team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. As an Advanced Biomedical Scientist, you will play a key role in the running of our Haematology & Coagulation service at Colchester Hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise the Coagulation and Haematology section, ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory.
- Manage the daily organisation and staffing of the section, working closely with other Advanced Biomedical Scientists.
- Ensure the maintenance of analysers and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
- Monitor internal and external quality-control performance, taking corrective action as necessary.
- Oversee stock control and ordering of reagents and materials.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and staff competency logs, ensuring compliance with ISO:15189 standards.
- Deputise for the Haematology Lead in their absence, requiring a good knowledge of both routine Haematology and Coagulation.
- Assist with the management of the laboratory, including the raising of purchase orders and receipting invoices.
