Revenue Officer - Debt Recovery Specialist

North Yorkshire Council is seeking a skilled Revenue Officer to join their team. This role will involve working with the Revenues service and the Welfare & Benefits service to deliver billing, collection, and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates.

The ideal candidate will have experience in dealing with customers who are in arrears with their council Tax and Business Rates, making arrangements to clear debts, and chasing missed payments. They will also be responsible for identifying what action is required for each debt account and communicating with customers via telephone, email, and written letter.

The role requires the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to identify and implement effective solutions to debt recovery. Experience with Northgate systems is essential, and IRRV qualification is desirable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing debt accounts and making arrangements to clear debts
  • Chasing missed payments and communicating with customers
  • Identifying what action is required for each debt account
  • Working with the Revenues service and the Welfare & Benefits service to deliver billing, collection, and recovery of Council Tax and Business Rates

The role is fully remote and offers a competitive hourly rate of £15 PAYE with the possibility of a pay rate increase.
