Project Cost Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Cost Accountant to join our team at Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for maintaining and producing the orderbook, forecasting revenue, and reviewing the WIP and Accrued Revenue schedule.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining and Producing the Orderbook: Update the orderbook files with 'Year-to-Date' values for revenue and cost of sales, and add new projects that have been entered onto Project Accounting since the previous update.
  • Revenue Forecasting: Using the updated orderbook, provide a revenue forecast for both capital works projects and service and maintenance contracts.
  • Exception Reporting: Identify projects with gross margins below expectations and investigate exceptions with the Operations team.
  • Financial Adjustments: Recommend financial adjustments where projects fall outside of budget.
  • Assisting with Ledger Journals: Assist with ledger journals, accruals, prepayments, and the production of management information.
