As a Quality Assurance Inspector at Wabtec Corporation, you will be an integral part of the Quality team, actively engaging in the resolution of quality-related challenges.
Position: Quality Assurance Inspector
Compensation: £Competitive
Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday 07:00am to 16:00pm and Friday 07:00am to 12:30pm, totaling 37 hours per week
Employment Type: Fixed-Term Contract for 6 months - Full-Time
How will you contribute to our success?
Your responsibilities will include ensuring that Goods in Inspection, Supplier First Article Inspection (FAI), and Customer FAI's are executed efficiently, with meticulous documentation maintained.
What does a typical day entail?
- Assess engineering components against technical drawings and specifications.
- Examine supplier documentation to verify compliance with specifications and compile Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIR)/FAI packs.
- Initiate Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR) through our internal Incident Management system.
- Authorize product release to production via the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.
- Isolate non-conforming products for further evaluation.
- Process claims using the MRP system and coordinate the return of non-conforming items to suppliers in collaboration with the purchasing department.
- Conduct stock checks as necessary as part of containment measures.
- Perform random inspections of outgoing products and report findings to the Quality team.
- Engage with Customers and Suppliers regarding product rejections or quality concerns.
- Uphold and enhance 5S standards in the Quality Quarantine and Inspection areas.
What qualifications are we looking for?
- HND or an equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Capability to interpret and comprehend engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in utilizing various testing and precision measurement tools, along with manual hand tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and Vernier calipers.
- Competent in IT and familiar with Microsoft Office applications (Excel & Word).
