About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Menswear Designer to join our team at Barbour. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for creating and developing seasonal ranges of Menswear clothing that meet the brand's high standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Create Barbour International products that meet design features, price points, and margin requirements.
  • Seasonal Objectives: Deliver product in line with seasonal objectives for each category and target markets.
  • Brand DNA: Design ranges in line with the Barbour International brand DNA, following the seasonal brief.
  • Critical Path: Work to a seasonal critical path for product launch.
  • Market Analysis: Through regular market visits and range reviews with key representatives, demonstrate an understanding of the key markets in which to grow sales within Barbour International.
  • Technical Specifications: Create accurate, detailed technical specifications for each product suitable for global manufacture.
  • Design Systems: Ensure design systems are updated and concise with Barbour international ranges and product categories – PLM.
  • Sales Data Analysis: Investigate and analyze sales data and market competitors to assist and inform seasonal range design and development – PDSA approach.
  • Presentation and Branding: Create appropriate presentation and branding packs to communicate the range direction.
  • Product Progression: Have the ability to progress product lines and ranges by creating comprehensive mood and color boards in line with the Barbour International brand DNA.
  • Technical Collaboration: Work closely with the technical team and manufacturing base to create prototype and selling samples to the required fit and specification, in line with the critical path deadlines.
  • Product Information: Provide accurate information on all products to the Marketing and E Commerce teams.
  • Product Presentation: Support in preparing product presentation packs for sales review and launch.
Requirements
  • Education: Degree in clothing and fashion design.
  • Experience: Established experience of designing, developing, and presenting products is essential – ideally in branded menswear fashion.
  • Product Development: Have knowledge of product development from concept to consumer launch.
  • Garment Construction: Must have knowledge of garment construction and fit across a range of categories.
  • Brand Knowledge: Demonstrate an understanding of the Barbour International brand positioning, its heritage, and competitor brands (specifically the UK market).
  • Software Skills: Excellent working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop packages is essential.
  • PLM Systems: Knowledge of PLM or similar systems would be advantageous.
  • Office Packages: Knowledge of office packages i.e. Word, Excel etc would be preferable.
