About the Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at a secondary SEMH school in Christchurch. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will provide crucial support to students facing mental health challenges, helping them navigate their educational journey.

You will work closely with teachers and families to foster a supportive environment that addresses each student's emotional and psychological needs. This role offers a fulfilling opportunity to positively impact young learners in Christchurch while gaining valuable experience in mental health support tailored to the unique challenges of adolescence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialised support to students with complex needs related to Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour, ensuring their individual EHCPs are effectively implemented.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to create an inclusive and engaging curriculum that addresses the specific challenges associated with Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour across various subjects, including outdoor education.
  • Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment to promote social, emotional, and mental well-being, with a focus on addressing anxiety and behaviour challenges.
Requirements
  • A deep comprehension of the diverse needs associated with Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour.
  • An ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique requirements of individual students, particularly those facing mental health challenges.
  • A patient and understanding approach, when facing challenging behaviour.
  • A proactive and open mindset, working in a multidisciplinary team.
