Import Customs Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Import Customs Administrator to join our team at WR Logistics, a leading provider of international logistics and freight services. As an award-winning company, we offer a range of solutions for clients across the UK, Europe, and globally.
Key Responsibilities:- Work closely with our Customs Manager to oversee the import customs process and ensure smooth operations.
- Sign and complete customs documents under Power of Attorney on behalf of clients.
- Recognize client commercial invoices and packing lists, extracting data as necessary to complete import declarations.
- Liaise with importers and internal operational colleagues to obtain mandatory information for import entries.
- Enter details onto specialized Customs software, including Destin8, Sequoia, and Descartes, to allow goods to enter the UK and deliver to consignees.
- Be fully conversant with CDS, NCTS, GVMS, IPAFFS, and other regulatory platforms.
- Allocate the correct licenses depending on the type of goods being imported.
- Calculate and process taxes and duties to be paid by buyers of goods.
- Apply duty refunds and tariff reclassification as appropriate and assist with any appeals that may arise.
- Be fully conversant with import Customs regulations and keep up-to-date with changes as they occur.
- Inform customers on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements, and all other Customs-related matters.
- Have a clear understanding and the ability to process the necessary import documentation, including T-documents, EUR1's, Certificates of Origin, PAOA, HRFNAO, and other cargo control documents.
- Liaise with Port Health, Border Force, and HMRC officials in areas such as document checks, goods quarantine, and release of goods from ETSF locations.
- Previous experience working in an import customs role.
- Good understanding of Customs legal requirements and the impact of incorrect information and/or Customs declarations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills due to engagement with various agencies on a daily basis.
