We are excited to present a position for a dedicated and driven professional to become a vital member of our cohesive team.
Role Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will engage in the operational management and strategic advancement of a cutting-edge paediatric critical care service, which serves as a regional hub for multiple District General Hospitals.
This role encompasses clinical duties across both paediatric intensive care units, including responsibilities as the consultant of the week and participation in on-call duties. Adequate SPA time will be allocated, allowing for the pursuit of personal interests within the units.
Qualifications Required:
Applicants must hold MRCPCH, FRCA, or an equivalent qualification, demonstrating training and experience in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine, including proficiency in ECMO, mechanical support for heart failure, and cardiac transplantation.

Candidates must be registered medical practitioners and either be on or eligible to join the Specialist Register within a specified timeframe.
Clinical Duties:
- Oversee the daily operations of the Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care and the Paediatric Intensive Care Units.
- Participate in the on-call rota for both cardiac and general PICU.
- Manage referrals and new admissions to the paediatric intensive care unit.
- Provide remote consultation for critically ill children in local hospitals.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Perform general administrative tasks aligned with the Directorate and Trust objectives.
- Ensure timely completion of discharge summaries for PICU patients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of PICU activities.
- Engage in Clinical Governance, contributing to multidisciplinary audits and risk management.
Research and Education:
- Participate in the paediatric critical care research program.
- Contribute to educational initiatives, including training for healthcare professionals and medical students.
- Supervise and mentor postgraduate trainees within the Trust.
