Role Responsibilities

The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing Steer's research and insight capabilities. This position will involve collaboration with the research community across various regions, including the US, India, Italy, and Latin America, to exchange best practices and leverage opportunities for cross-project support.

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide leadership in discipline development and serve as a technical assurance point for research initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members to enhance their technical competencies and knowledge.

Work-Life Balance

We encourage full-time employees to allocate 60% of their time to in-office or client-facing activities, while striving to maintain a typical work week of 37.5 hours, aligned with client needs. Flexible arrangements are available for part-time applicants.

Compensation and Benefits

Steer is dedicated to providing competitive compensation to all employees. Initial salary offers may vary based on skills, experience, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including private medical insurance, life assurance, a pension scheme, and opportunities for annual leave flexibility. Employees can also participate in a group Share Incentive Plan and are encouraged to engage in volunteer activities.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Exceptional technical expertise in specifying research methodologies and analytical techniques.
  • Proven experience in project delivery and technical leadership within a consultancy setting.
  • A solid understanding of the transport sector and its key stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and present effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly in report writing and data analysis; familiarity with software such as SPSS or STATA is advantageous.
  • A proactive approach to building internal networks and collaborating across teams.
  • A track record of delivering profitable research projects and contributing to broader initiatives.
  • The capability to thrive in a dynamic professional environment, ideally with prior consultancy experience.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with clients and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of evaluation design and methodologies is a plus.
  • Demonstrated innovation and creativity in previous roles.
