Summary:

Everest People Solutions is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Operations Manager for a prominent player in the food production sector. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of processes to meet production benchmarks and financial targets. You will also provide managerial support for other Operations Managers and take on responsibilities of Manufacturing Managers as required. Your duties will include promoting health and safety practices, upholding quality standards, food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness, while efficiently managing labor and material resources. You will mentor and guide team leaders to meet departmental KPIs and develop actionable plans to enhance performance and address challenges, ensuring a secure and productive work environment. We are looking for experienced Operations Managers with a background in the food industry, who are comfortable leading teams of up to 150 individuals.

Key Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Operations Manager:

  • Achieve departmental productivity and efficiency goals to manufacture products in line with the production schedule.
  • Continuously assess raw materials, operational workflows, and the production setting to ensure adherence to food safety regulations.
  • Evaluate labor allocation to guarantee availability and alignment with production needs.
  • Communicate updates on production progress with the operations team, identifying potential risks to meeting volume and quality standards.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of machinery and equipment through Optimal Equipment Efficiency to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
  • Foster a culture of Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) by following protocols, investigating incidents, implementing corrective measures, and completing near-miss reports.
  • Analyze operational trends to identify and pursue opportunities for sustainable enhancements in quality, performance, and profitability, ensuring the operational plan is met.
  • Assess team capabilities, ensuring staff are focused on key objectives and developed to reach their full potential.
  • Participate in customer and technical process development reviews to enhance production quality and consistency.
  • Manage resource allocation and daily labor planning.
  • Ensure efficiency in direct labor management, operating all production lines at agreed speeds and staffing levels.
  • Oversee waste management and yield, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Adapt to daily changes in the production plan.
  • Manage materials and Work-In-Progress (WIP) with appropriate rotation and shelf-life considerations.
  • Supervise shift labor planning and manage employee absences.
  • Review progress against service level plans and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Act as the designated individual for incident management.
  • Implement and adhere to established escalation procedures.

Qualifications for the Manufacturing Operations Manager:

  • Demonstrated experience leading large teams in a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to plan and drive initiatives within a complex team structure.
  • Experience in spearheading business improvement projects.
  • Well-educated with strong literacy and numerical skills; capable of understanding, communicating, and reporting clearly in English.
  • Experience managing diverse teams in a complex manufacturing setting.
  • Advanced Food Hygiene Certification.
  • HACCP Level 2 Qualification.
  • IOSH Level 2 Certification.
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Skilled in conducting skill gap assessments and competence training.
  • Proficient in overseeing and implementing effective material and ingredient control processes.
  • Capable of effectively managing labor utilization within the production unit.
  • Competent in challenging team performance and ensuring adherence to performance management routines.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and effectively managing absence and resource challenges.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of product quality, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ability to promote a proactive Health and Safety culture and take appropriate actions to address health and safety concerns.
