Position Overview

Are you dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of children and adolescents with diabetes? At Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, we are seeking a committed Paediatric Nutrition Specialist to join our dynamic team.

Core Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct outpatient consultations as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT), providing expert dietary guidance.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, focusing on children and young individuals with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
  • Support newly diagnosed patients and their families through inpatient care, emphasizing essential carbohydrate management.
  • Collaborate closely with a team of five diabetes dietitians, contributing to the integrated diabetes service.

This role offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients and their families, ensuring a supportive environment for learning and growth.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • A degree or postgraduate diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Relevant post-registration clinical experience.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a dietetic team and the wider MDT.

Desirable:

  • Membership in relevant professional groups.
  • Post-registration qualifications in paediatrics or diabetes management.
  • Experience in training student dietitians.
