Court of Protection Solicitor Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Court of Protection Solicitor to join our Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts department at Flint Bishop Solicitors.

About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated legislation. As a Court of Protection Solicitor, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding and protecting the rights and interests of vulnerable individuals who lack the mental capacity to make decisions for themselves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and representation to clients in Court of Protection cases, including applications for deputyship, statutory wills, health and welfare decisions, and related trust matters.
  • Prepare and review legal documents, including court applications and financial reports.
  • Manage a comprehensive caseload efficiently, ensuring that all matters are handled within specified timeframes and with a high level of professionalism.
  • Stay updated on changes in legislation and case law related to the Court of Protection, ensuring compliance and the provision of accurate advice.
  • Take on additional tasks as reasonably required by the Head of Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts.
Requirements
  • Be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with a minimum of 3 years' experience running your own Court of Protection caseload.
  • Have strong knowledge and understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and associated legislation.
  • Have proven experience in managing a caseload of Court of Protection matters.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Have strong advocacy skills and experience representing clients in court.
  • Showcase high level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
  • Have ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
